Welcome to the Santa Fe Watershed Association
The Santa Fe Watershed Association is working to restore the Santa Fe River and its watershed through advocacy, education, and hands-on restoration work.
We advocate for policies that will restore the Santa Fe River to a level of ecological health that sustains wildlife, trees and plants, and increases our ground water.
Our programs both restore and build support for a healthy river through education and activities that connect people to their watershed.
Mayor David Coss has officially proclaimed 2012 as Love Your River Year, so for Valentine’s Day this year the Santa Fe Watershed Association is collecting blue heart valentines for the Santa Fe River. All are encouraged to submit their blue valentine of any medium or size to our office at 1413 Second Street, Suite 3 by February 8 to be displayed at SFWA events this year as well as the upcoming Adopt-the-River 10th Anniversary Award Ceremony.
On February 11, the SFWA will celebrate over 20 sponsors and stewards who have supported the Adopt-the-River program for over 6 years. Four standouts are the McCune Foundation, Karen Walker Real Estate, the New Mexico State Land Office, and State Supreme Court Building Commission, who have been with the Adopt-the-River Program for the full ten years.
The Santa Fe Watershed Association is working to continue the NM Climate Masters program, which was started by the New Mexico Environment Department in 2008 but was cancelled in Fall 2011 for political reasons.
We have received a promise of $4,500 in funding if we can raise the additional $3,000 needed to offer another session of NM Climate Masters and, thus, are looking to you, citizens who care about water and climate change issues, to support this effort.
This is a time that any amount of funding you can contribute will help us in educating our community about ways we can enhance ecosystem resilience and protect future water supplies in response to the many unknowns we’re all facing with climate change.
For more information, please visit our NM Climate Masters page or click the "Donate" button on the left to support this valuable program.
