MI ARROYO, MI TIERRA 6th Grade/Middle School Curriculum Unit Workshops

Join us to learn about place-based outdoor education using local arroyos that are readily accessible to most schools. The unit looks at arroyos through the lens of stormwater, exploring erosion, infiltration, and pollution while using hands-on activities that are aligned with NM STEM Ready! Science Standards.

Workshops will be held online and will explore each of the mini units with a final in-person arroyo walk.

February 21, 4:30-6:00pm – Mini Unit 1 Erosion and Arroyos

February 28, 4:30-6:00pm – Mini Unit 2 Infiltration and Arroyos

March 7, 4:30-6:00pm – Mini Unit 3 Pollution and Arroyos

March 11, 9:00-11:00am – Arroyo Exploration (meet at La Farge Library parking lot)

Teachers will receive a $50 stipend for each session attended. Teachers that attend all 3 online sessions and the in-person arroyo walk will receive a $250 stipend!
